6 things every bride should know about wedding day hair and makeup

To a bride, the wedding day hair and make-up are just as important a part of the day as the dress – both which are almost more important than everything else! Most brides will hire a professional wedding hair and make-up specialist to get her ready for her big day. Here are 6 things every bride should know about wedding day hair and makeup;
1 – Keep bridal make-up subtle and natural. Most weddings happen in the daytime and subtle make-up looks better in natural light which can be harsh and unforgiving. More dramatic make-up can be worn in the evening, however it should be applied sparingly as to not overpower the beautiful dress.
2 – Similarly, with bridal hair, it should be in a soft style which enhances the whole bridal look, as opposed to structured and stiff. Beautiful and elegant hair styles work best, and hair cuts and colour treatments should be done in advance so they have time to settle into the style. Your wedding day is not a time to experiment with your hair cut or colour, so be sure that you do any playing around well in advance and choose something you know suits you best.
3 – When creating wedding make-up, the application and the colour palette should be compatible with the wedding photography. Of course it is important to make sure that the make-up is suitable for the day, but how it appears in photographs is vital and it is a good idea to experiment with this in the lead up to the big day.
4 – Wedding make-up will inevitably need touch ups throughout the day and so this should be something considered when applying it. You should also choose make-up which is long lasting in order to make the most of it from the day through to evening. Waterproof mascara is a must, weddings can obviously be emotional, and no bride wants panda eyes!
5 – Play up your best features. Choose one feature, be it your eyes or lips, and play one of these up with make-up, but not both. The idea behind the wedding make-up is to enhance your natural beauty, but not to appear overly made-up.
6 – Lastly – you will be doing a lot of kissing. Just as with the need for waterproof mascara, long lasting lipstick that is kiss proof is an excellent idea as you do not want to leave lipstick traces all over your groom or guests, nor wear it off straight away.
